Pottery Journey

Destiny led Tinni to secure a one-year sponsored apprenticeship at Leach Pottery, England, in 2013, marking the beginning of an unstoppable journey. During her time at Leach, she had countless opportunities to assist and engage with renowned potters such as Mike Dodd, John Leach, Phil Rogers, Debra Sloan, and Yoh Tanimoto, among others from the UK, US, Japan, and Canada. She also aided Warren Mackenzie during his two-week residency in November 2013 and Joe Finch during his Kiln Building workshop at Leach Pottery. This experience transformed her artistic approach, igniting a passion for the beauty and simplicity of Functional Pottery.

Even after her time at Leach, Tinni continued to nurture her connections with the international pottery world. She embarked on a month-long apprenticeship at Tyrii Pottery, Scotland, in June 2016 and later served as a student intern with potter Mike Dodd in the following year. In her endeavor to share the wisdom gained from these experiences with a broader audience, she curated and hosted "Let’s Talk Clay," an India-International Potter’s Online Talk in 2021, in collaboration with the Delhi Blue Pottery Trust.

In 2018, Tinni embarked on a month-long residency at Andretta Pottery, India, where she delved into their unique style of slip trailing on terracotta, which she experimented on a collection of her miniature ware. She also contributed to the restoration of their Terracotta Museum Collection, reflecting her deep interest in the preservation and conservation of pottery.

June 2023 brought yet another enriching experience at Winchcombe Pottery, Cotswold, England. Here, Tinni immersed herself in learning the legacy style of Ray Finch through their ongoing slip decoration. She actively participated in the studio production work and assisted in firing the wood and soda kiln. Inspired by the Winchcombe slip and combing decoration, she crafted her own range of miniatures, which were later showcased for sale at the The Winchcombe Gallery.

Tinni firmly believes that the journey of pottery should extend beyond one's own studio walls. She emphasizes the importance of collaborating with fellow potters to continuously learn and experiment with new tips and techniques, enriching one's own artistic practice.
